Pet Theft Awareness Day

On February 14th of every year,
LCA celebrates Pet Theft Awareness Day (PTAD) by educating the public
about the dangers of pet theft with the help of individuals and other
animal organizations throughout the United States.
LCA’s Animal News Van makes special appearances at local Los Angeles dog
parks with LCA’s staff and volunteers handing out important information
on pet theft and dog treats and toys (thanks to donations from Three Dog
Bakery & Centinela Feed).
If you are interested in hosting a PTAD event in your town, check out
LCA’s Campaigns
Materials page and get activity suggestions and supplies.
LCA created “dog tags” in remembrance of “Rebel,”
a dog that died at Martin Creek Kennels during LCA’s investigation of
Class “B” dealer C.C. Baird. These tags have been created for supporters
to wear on Valentine’s Day, February 14th – Pet Theft Awareness Day (and
every day!). These tags both memorialize the stolen pets that lost their
lives for medical research and serve as a tool to educate others about
pet theft.
